About This Tool

So, you need to figure out how many months are between two dates? Maybe you're planning a project, tracking a subscription, or just curious how long something’s been going on. Whatever the reason, a month calculator does exactly what it sounds like—it counts the months (and sometimes years) between two points in time. It’s not rocket science. You pick a start date, pick an end date, and boom—you get the number of months in between. Simple, right? But here’s the thing: months aren’t all the same length. Some have 28 days, some 30, some 31. And leap years? Ugh. That’s why doing this by hand gets messy fast. A good month calculator handles all that nonsense so you don’t have to. I built this one because I got tired of opening spreadsheets every time I needed to check how long a contract had been active. Now I just plug in the dates and move on with my life.

Key Features

  • Calculates full months between any two dates—past, present, or future.
  • Handles leap years and varying month lengths automatically.
  • Lets you choose whether to count partial months or only complete ones.
  • Shows the result in months, or breaks it down into years and months (like “2 years, 5 months”).
  • Works offline once loaded—no need to worry about spotty internet.
  • No ads, no tracking, no nonsense. Just a clean interface and a result.

FAQ

Does it count the start and end months?
Depends on your settings. By default, it counts full months only—so if you start on January 15 and end on February 14, that’s 0 full months. But you can toggle an option to include partial months if you need a rough estimate.

What if I only have a year and month, not a specific day?
No problem. Just pick the first or last day of the month—most people use the 1st. The calculator will treat it like any other date. Just be consistent so your results make sense.
